Foodie in South Australia

Not sure about you guys, but I am telling you that I am genuinely in love with South Australia after my first visit! Clear blue sky, fine food and wine, fun and adventurous activities, amazing stay, etc. You get the full Australian experience all in one state. Before you read this post, I would suggest you to head over and enjoy my first South Australia post here. I went to South Australia in January with a friend named Felicia, all my amazing photos were nicely taken thanks to her!

We stayed in two different hotels, Novotel Barossa Valley Resort and Hilton Adelaide. Novotel Barossa Valley Resort offered spectacular view of Barossa Valley, one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve seen. First photo was taken at the pool of Novotel Resort from my hotel room. Whereas Hilton Adelaide offered local view of Adelaide, central market and also the ancient architectural buildings of the state. I’ve enjoyed my stay in both of the hotels!

They said in South Australia, extraordinary food and world-famous wine are a way of life, I couldn’t agree more! From day 1 till the last day of our trip, I couldn’t stop eating and all the food I’ve tried were incredibly delicious! Which is why I am going to share with you some of the restaurants I’ve been to and find it amazing!

Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant

One of the best fine dining restaurants I’ve tried, located at Mount Lofty House. Enjoying fine food overlooking the remarkable patchwork of Piccadilly Valley, how amazing is that! I always respect those chefs who appreciate their work, and produce it like a piece of art. In this restaurants, all the food been served were amazingly beautiful and scrumptious! One of my favorite dishes was their Salmon!

The Henry Austin Restaurant

The boss of Henry Austin’s was one of the funniest guy I’ve ever met. He talked to us and made fun with us even to other customers while we were having dinner. The unique part of this restaurant was that there is no fixed menu, they will change the dish spontaneously from time to time depending on the ingredients and also taste. Don’t be surprised if they serve you something very special! I was surprised when he served me kangaroo meat, because in my life I’VE NEVER try kangaroo meat before till that day. I must say this was an unforgettable dinner to me HAHA! Other than that, I love the interior design of the restaurant, very rustic yet sophisticated.

Hahndorf Inn Restaurant

What if I tell you the first meal I’ve got to South Australia was German food? Yeap! It was at The Hahndorf Inn, a family business runned by Holmes family. We were greeted by a man who played local instruments, and he’d even played our country song “Rasa Sayang”! It was a relaxing and cheerful restaurant to dine in. Famous dish was the combination of pork knuckles, sausages, and ribs, more than enough for 3 person sharing!

Prancing Pony Brewery

For those who love beer, you ought to come to here! Because they have the famous local craft beers and 6 of them were surprisingly taste different from the usual beers! They have Sunshine Ale, Hopwork Orange, Black Ale, Pale Ale, Amber Ale, and Indian Red Ale. I especially love the Indian Red Ale, with aromatic yet bitter flavor, it was champion trophy winner! Apart from beer, they served delicious food as well.

Sean’s Kitchen

Didn’t get to take a lot of photos as I was indulging in their scrumptious food! Sean’s Kitchen in Adelaide was the first restaurant by Sean Connolly, which served contemporary food. I would highly recommend this restaurant because the food was really good, and Sean used the “old-world” concept as the architecture to match with his metropolitan wonderland.

Artisan of Barossa, Harvest Kitchen

Remember I mentioned South Australia is all about fine food and wine? Artisan of Barossa speaks it all. They produced traditional local wines and flavoursome food. After our activities, we had spent our afternoon here. It was a pleasant brunch overlooking the vineyards.

There are so many places to explore in South Australia, I just wish to go back again.
