Must-Visit-Local-Restaurants at Hong Kong

Ever since I first travelled to Hong Kong, I keep going back and never get bored of this place. What makes me keep visiting Hong Kong? Of course it's nearer to us and the flight tix is not expensive, besides some stuffs we can't get it in M'sia, we always the last one to get new stuff! D: Not to forget, I love their food! I remembered the first time I wasn't really know how to search for local famous food. Then I discovered some cool apps that really guide us throughout the whole journey! Not only food, it shows us the shopping places and tourist must-go-places. For those who first time visiting Hong Kong, I would suggest you to download those cool apps and do research! If you travel to Hong Kong without knowing any of the famous local restaurants, you'd definitely regret about it!

For this post, I'll show you some local restaurant that you must visit when travelling to Hong Kong, of course! there're lots of other restaurants that I haven't discover yet, so these are some local restaurants (a.k.a. 茶餐厅) I've visited so far.

#1 Tsui Wah Restaurant 翠华茶餐厅

Tsui Wah Restaurant is the most famous in Hong Kong, they served Hong Kong's local cuisine. it has many branches at Hong Kong and China, almost every MRT station has one Tsui Wah nearby, so no need to worry about the difficulty to search for it. The first branch of Tsui Wah Restaurant started at Mong Kong (旺角), Hong Kong at 1967. I hope someone can bring Tsui Wah into M'sia, I personally thinks that Wong Kok Restaurant and Kim Gary Restaurant are the worse hk cuisine restaurants.

 脆嘩奶油豬
Famous crispy bun served with sweet condensed milk
A classic Hong Kong snack
Highly recommended!

至潮魚蛋片頭河
Fish Balls & Fish Cakes w/ Flat Rice Noodles in Fish Soup
Their fish balls are handmade every morning and no color preservatives
I personally think that it is good but no surprise.

 Pork burger

 Fried rice

 Another signature dish, 瑞士雞翼
Swiss Sauce Chicken Wings
Swiss sauce chicken wing has their historic story at Hong Kong,
that's why they're famous.
But their 瑞士雞翼 is still not the best

Cheese baked rice

Another thing is the restaurants open till late around 3am, perfect for us who always search for food in the middle of the night! XDD But the opening hours of every branch varies, you may visit their website for more information.

#2 砵仔王

Everyone knows 砵仔糕, it's a traditional Chinese cake that we can see on Hong Kong drama last time. I tried once at Taman Connaught Cheras before, it was terrible so I didn't think of trying anymore. Then, I discovered it when I was searching for famous local Hong Kong food, 砵仔王 has a high review at the forum, however when the first time I came to this shop 砵仔糕 sold out!

Not only 砵仔糕, 砵仔王 also selling other local Hong Kong snacks

The recent Hong Kong trip I didn't give up, plus this time I stayed nearby Wan Chai (湾仔) station, so I went there early in the morning. Yay! Finally I got to try out the local one!

One 砵仔糕 costs HKD5$, around RM2
The price is okay and definitely worth the price!
I took the closed up but don know why it lost
The 砵仔糕 is soft, not too sweet and red bean amount is nice, though I don't like red bean.
Highly recommend this!

There are several branches at Hong Kong, Wan Chai is the one I visited.

 #3 Mark's Noodle 麥奀雲吞麵世家

Another famous local restaurant at Hong Kong, Mark's Noodle. It is the third generation business that still running well and it has many branches already nowadays. Mark's Noodle is famous of the Wantan noodles.

I ordered the signature wantan noodle
the soup is made of powder dried flounder, dried shrimp roe and pork bones.
the serving is small because they want to maintain the chewy noodle from going soggy.
I remembered the first time it was delicious, but this time it was so-so at central branch.
Probably there's a difference at different branches.
Don't go the central branch, the waiters were impolite too.

My boyfriend ordered the dry noodles with dried shrimp.

 Chinese Kai-lan

I would suggest you to go for Causeway Bay (銅鑼灣) branch. Other branches you can find it at this link http://www.unclemenu.com/hongkong-island/causewaybay/麥奀雲吞麵世家/

#4 Liang Liang Noodles Shop 靚靚車仔麵

Another must try in Hong Kong, Cart noodle (車仔麵)! Cart noodle is something like a la carte noodle, which you can choose from noodle to toppings according to your preference and the price varies too. It's very famous last time as a street vendors and now it has established to a cultural icon.

They have some suggested carte noodle which you don't need to choose one by one,
specially deisgned.
I ordered it and it tastes really good!
Only some of the ingredients like pig blood I don't eat

My boyfriend always go for the safest and traditional choice, pork meat patty with rice.
It's delicious too!

#5 DimDimSum Dim Sum Specialty Store 點點心點心專門店

Accidentally found this when I walking around at Wan Chai. The reason I visited this store is because it has several awards such as timeout award of Best DimSum 2011, Newsweek 2012 101 Best Places to Eat in the World. And also I saw a lot of people inside the store, hehe! Kia Su attitude!

There are 6 branches in Hong Kong and this is Wan Chai branch.
